* STOP HUNGER NOW*
Stop Hunger Now created its meal packaging program, in 2005. The program perfected the assembly
process that combines rice, soy, dehydrated vegetables and a flavoring mix including 21 essential
vitamins and minerals into small meal packets. Each meal costs only 25 cents to create, and each package
contains six meals. The food stores easily, has a shelf-life of two years and transports quickly.
Volunteers have packaged nearly 120 million meals since 2005 through Stop Hunger Now’s unique meal
packaging program which uses an assembly-line process.
The Kiski Charge (New Beginnings, Saltsburg and Vandergrift UMC churches) along with other
churches in the area will be assembling meals in September. Watch the weekly bulletins and
June Messenger for more information on this mission project.
If you would like to contribute to this project, you may do so by writing a check to Stop Hunger
Now, or placing a donation in the collection plates on Sunday morning. All loose offering
collected during the months of May through August will given for this project.
The New Hope Food Pantry will be moving into our church to a space being prepared in the storage room off the kitchen.
The following is a list of items needed.
Boxed Potatoes Canned Baked Beans
Hamburger Helper Canned Vegetables
Canned Fruit Canned Soup
Canned Juice Canned Spaghetti
Pasta Peanut Butter

Cereal Face Soap
February 2 is Souper Bowl Sunday. We will collect money and non parishable food items for the food pantry.
Love God, Love Neighbor, Serve the World
This church is a loving church.
People who drop by for the first time are
made to feel like family.
There is a lot of loneliness in today's world.
Here, you can find real community.
Jesus often taught with stories.
He continues to challenge us to use our
minds without losing our imagination.
We still sense His spirit guiding us to be more
accepting and tolerant of others.
We also value deeply the Bible
and take time to study it together.
For Vandergrift First United Methodist Church,
this means reaching out in love to our neighbors
through programs like our children's program,
Vacation Bible School, etc. It means being there
for all who need us and reaching out to the lost.
And it means opening our doors wide -- all the time.
